Reverend Franklin Lance, D. Min., is a dynamic preacher and teacher of the gospel and richly blessed with the charismata of preaching, teaching, and leadership. He is a preacher’s kid (PK) born to the late Reverend James I. Lance and Mrs. Frances Lance. His father served faithfully as an Assistant Minister at the New Hope Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend James Fuller. Having been raised in a Christian household, baptized at age thirteen, and active in numerous church ministries, Reverend Lance has felt the call of God on his life for as long as he can remember. The actual form of this vocational beckoning became clear to him as he was called to the gospel ministry during his teens, and preached his initial sermon at the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church on December 7, 1990, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Olin P. Moyd, Ph.D.

Since preaching his initial sermon, Reverend Lance has served the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church family in numerous roles (e.g., Sunday School Teacher, New Ministers’ Homiletics Trainer, Youth Minister, and Radio Broadcast Co-Host). Additionally, he helped Pastor Alex Young, Jr., start the Majestic Fellowship Church where he served as Assistant Pastor for three years. Currently, he nourishes and displays his gifts through teaching numerous courses at the United Baptist College and Seminary, serving as an assistant ordination catechist working with Dr. John Lunn, Sr., and following his pastor’s footsteps as a member of the Trustee and Executive Boards of the United Baptist Missionary Convention of Maryland.

As a native of Baltimore, Maryland, Reverend Lance is a product of its public school system. He attended and graduated with honors (top ten) from Forest Park High School He is a Magna cum Laude graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) from which he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management. Reverend Lance is also a graduate of the Howard University School of Divinity (HUSD) from which he obtained a Master of Divinity degree and a Doctorate of Ministry (D. Min) degree.
